Extend Beyond Yourself
We define Extending Beyond Yourself as investing in relationships and inviting people to something relevant. For some of us that's easy, we are described as being a "people" person. For others, building relationships is way outside their comfort zones. If you look at what is written about the life of Jesus in the Gospels, if you really look at how Jesus did what he is asking us to do, you will see that he formed relationships with all of the folks he encountered. With Jesus there is always action: doing and giving. When Jesus spoke people listened.
"Preach the gospel at all times, when necessary use words."
St. Francis of Assisi
Who are the people we are supposed to build these relationships with? Your neighbor, your co-worker, the check-out person at the store, the barber who cuts your hair, anyone God lays on your heart. Maybe even a family member. Why do we need to build these relationships? To share the good news about Jesus. And how do we do that? By listening, taking the time to really listen to what people are saying and look for opportunities to share your faith.
