Juno Smalley

Executive Pastor

Juno, Bonnie, and McKenzie moved to Arizona from Michigan in the early 2000's and joined the Mountain Park family in the summer of 2008. In late 2009, Bonnie entered into heaven after battling cancer for 13 years. After starting out as our Discipleship Pastor, in 2010, Juno moved into the Executive Pastor role. In order for the first question to be funny you have to know that Juno sends 10x more emails than anyone on staff... okay, now you can read & laugh :)

Have you ever considered using email?
Funny - I do have the trophy for "The Quickest Staff Member to reach 1 million emails" - There's a fine line between efficient and addictive.

Does anyone ever tell you, "You look like Magnum PI without the mustache"?
Not really, I'm told often that I look like Mark Spitz (OK, that's showing my age a little).

Neil Diamond... greatest ever?
Now let's not go to extremes, I wouldn't say greatest ever, but he is a classic and he does a great job of honoring the past while moving forward. And if you ever go to any parties and they play Neil Diamond, the place erupts in singing (and I'm not referring to parties at a senior citizens home). We should try it in one of our celebrations!

Favorite bible verse as it pertains to small groups and why?
I'll make it two verses!
Genesis 1:27, "So God created humankind in his image." This is in reference to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. God didn't create us to be lone rangers, but at the core of our creation we were created to be in community. How we do it, what we call it, where we meet... is up to us...just do it!

Ecclesiastes 4:10 and 12, Pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up. A cord of thee strands in not quickly broken. Again we were not meant to go through life alone. It is natural and normal and in the image of God to need others. Yet we often equate our 'strength' and our 'success in life' by accomplishing something on 'our own'.
